Mission Statement
"To be a scholar and a gentleman"
I hold the following to be self-evident truths and value them in descending order:
- I am my only god: I shall control my destiny, my circumstances, and myself.
- I am a rational mind: I shall exercise reason over emotion, value truth over fancy, and retain clarity of thought.
- I am a biological machine: I shall maintain and care for my health and wellbeing.
- I am a member of society: I shall uphold my society's values.
- I am a member of my family: I will honour my parents and strengthen my clan.
- I am a friend to my friends: I shall enrich others with my friendship.
- I am a professional: I shall perform my duties proactively and embrace my responsibilities.
- I am an artist: I shall express myself through my creativity.
- I am a mortal creature: I shall hold my seconds precious, ignore the trivial, and live life to the fullest.
I shall pursue the following goals with equal vigour:
- A scholar is wise: I shall attempt to understand things.
- A scholar is always learning: I shall always seek knowledge and new experiences.
- A scholar shares his knowledge: I shall teach others who seek my wisdom.
- A gentleman has dignity: I shall act with dignity, integrity, and honour.
- A gentleman's word is his bond: I shall keep my word and not give it casually.
- A gentleman is financially free: I shall free myself from financial burdens.
- A gentleman is comfortable: I shall make my home a place of comfort.
- A gentleman is travelled: I shall see the world and make it my own.
